instructor-heather My Divine journey started in 2010. The course of my life was soon to change after. It started as a search to find new forms of fitness and dance. I had tried many in the past, but I never really committed to one or the other. I needed a fun workout to hold my attention and thought pole would be perfect. A true mix of dance and fitness!

I quickly fell in love with Divine Movement for its emphasis on dance as well as the crazy, cool pole tricks. I love pole dance because there is always a new learning opportunity and room to grow.

I didn’t realize at the time, but it soon became a form of therapy for me. Divine Movement taught me to nurture myself, become more present and to stop worrying about what other people thought of me or my dance. It’s a place I can take time to care for myself and be in the creative zone. That is what motivates me as an instructor. I want to help others find happiness in this art form as I have.

Hometown?
I grew up all over Washington, but my childhood was mostly spent in Federal way.

Why do you love Divine Movement?
Divine allows me a creative outlet for artistic expression without fear of persecution. Favorite quote?
“I have come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element. It is my personal approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather. I possess tremendous power to make life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration; I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis is escalated or de-escalated, and a person humanized or de-humanized. If we treat people as they are, we make them worse. If we treat people as they ought to be, we help them become what they are capable of becoming.” — Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
